Eight-game win streak comes to end for BSM junior varsity

Red Knights suffer five-goal loss to Eagles.

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Benilde-St. Margaret's allowed four power-play goals and couldn't overcome its 10 penalties as the Red Knights' eight-game winning streak came to an end with a 6-1 junior varsity loss at Eden Prairie.

The Eagles converted four of seven power-play chances while recording 12 of their 31 shots on goal with the man advantage, compared to an 0-for-5 performance on the power play by the visitors, who recorded 10 of their 24 shots during those five chances.

The Eagles took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission and extended to three goals early in the second period.

Matt Kocourek finally got BSM on the scoreboard with five minutes, 45 seconds remaining in the middle frame.

The hosts would then convert on all three of its power-play chances in the final period to claim the win.

The Red Knights are idle until Thursday, when they play their final road game of the season at the Plymouth Ice Center, beginning at 5 p.m., versus Wayzata.
