The Minnesota Seniors beat Wisconsin for the second consecutive day to claim the championship trophy at this year's CCM Girls National Invitational Tournament. The Minnesota Seniors dominated the tournament from start to finish, including a 7-2 win in the title game.

After playing a scoreless first period against Wisconsin the night before, the Minnesota Seniors wasted no time getting on the board Sunday taking a 3-0 lead after the first period.  Carly Bullock set the tone for Minnesota by scoring on her first shift. Then, Sydney Brodt found the twine later in the period and Bullock added another to give Minnesota a stranglehold on the game.

Brodt started the scoring in the second for Minnesota, firing a quick wrist shot upper corner for a goal, to make it 4-0.

Wisconsin pushed back in the second mustering their most shots of any period. Emma Peterson even narrowed the lead to 4-1 as she picked up a rebound off a shot by Nicole Unsworth and beat the Minnesota goalie Marit Larson who had just came into the game.

However, this game was all Minnesota as they would add two more goals on a pair of great plays to take a 6-1 lead into the third period. Lauren Greeder beat a defenseman and used a nice deke to score on a shorthanded rush. Then, Bullock split the Wisconsin defense on a two-on-two rush and as she was dragged down, Jordan Anderson rifled the loose puck into the net.

Wisconsin mustered another goal in the third period when Jada Ward unleashed a slap shot that got through traffic and found the upper corner. Ward's goal was Wisconsin's second goal of the game but only the third goal given up all tournament by the Minnesota Seniors.

Annelise Rice added another tally for the Minnesota Seniors in the third period as they cruised to the 2016 Girls NIT Championship with a 7-2 win.

The Minnesota Seniors finished the weekend 5-0 and outscored their opponents 34-2.

3rd Place Game: Minnesota U18: 5, North Dakota 2

The Minnesota HP 18's bounced back from their loss to North Dakota Saturday night, by beating them 5-2 on Sunday.  After an even first period that ended tied 1-1, Minnesota HP 18 took a 2-1 lead when Ellianna Burris scored on the power play with an assist from Lucile Burton. The HP 18's would hold the 2-1 lead into the 3rd period when Kaitlin Enriquez scored unassisted.  Minutes later, it was Abigail Riskevich who settled down a lose puck at the top of the crease and put in the rebound goal for a 4-1 U18 lead.  Madison Gaffney and Emma Hinze assisted on the goal by Riskevich. Trailing 5-1 late in the game, North Dakota continued to play hard and they were rewarded in the final minute with a goal by Kaitlyn Page and the game ended 5-2 in favor of Minnesota.
