Defensive Player of the Week: Week 4

Vote for your Week 4 Defensive Player of the Week.

Players are only included in the Player of the Week poll if their stats are entered on the Football Hub. If any coaches or members of their coaching staff would like to be set up to enter stats, please email john.kelsey@sportsengine.com. Stats must be entered by noon each Monday to be included in the POTW poll. 

Defensive Player of the Week Candidates:

Nathan Hormann, Wheaton-Herman-Norcross LB, senior: Hormann recorded six tackles, an interception, and a sack as Wheaton-Herman-Norcross rolled to a 34-12 win over MACCRAY. Wheaton-Herman-Norcross moved to 4-0 with the win. 

Laryountae Taylor, Minneapolis Patrick Henry LB, senior: Taylor finished with 10 tackles and an interception to help the Patriots beat St. Paul Como Park 28-19 and remained unbeaten. Taylor also caught a touchdown pass on offense. 

Jackson Dahl, Spring Lake Park LB, senior: Dahl picked off a pass and returned it for a touchdown and finished with 13 tackles as Spring Lake Park topped Irondale by a score of 35-14. Dahl leads the Panthers with 38 tackles through four games. 

Axel Ruschmeyer, Holy Family DL, senior: Ruschmeyer led all players with 16 tackles and forced a fumble in a tight 19-13 win over Glencoe-Silver Lake. 

Eli Weber, Dawson-Boyd DB, senior: Weber made a game-high 21 tackles as Dawson-Boyd lost to Minneota in overtime. Weber also added 115 receiving yards and three touchdowns on the offensive side of the ball. 

Bennett Theisen, SMB LB, sophomore: The SMB defense continued to shine in a 31-19 win over New Life Academy. Theisen led the way with 10 tackles, two tackles for loss, a forced fumble, and a sack. The Wolfpack are unbeaten in the first half of the regular season. 

Mark Willson, Orono LB, senior: Willson stuffed the stat sheet with 10 tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery in a 20-7 win over Academy of Holy Angels. 

Onte Burns, Robbinsdale Cooper LB, junior: The Cooper defense had no problem shutting down St. Louis Park behind 12 tackles, a sack, and an interception from Onte Burns. The Hawks won the game 35-6 and moved to 4-0 on the year. 

Dylan Graves, Upsala/Swanville LB, senior (winner): Graves led all players with 18 tackles as Upsala/Swanville handed Browerville their first loss of the season. Graves has 60 tackles in just four games. 

Ikenna Ujuagu, Benilde-St. Margaret's LB, junior: Ujuagu finished with 12 tackles (four for loss), a sack, and a forced fumble in a 29-22 overtime win over DeLaSalle. The junior leads the Red Knights in tackles through four weeks.
