Holiday tournaments have already begun and there are plenty more on the way as December comes to a close.

Elk River might have gained the most from last weekend's Edina Holiday Classic, and the Elks will hope to keep it going into the Sports Authority Holiday Classic at St. Louis Park Rec Center against more top-tier competition.

Stillwater, Holy Family Catholic, Lakeville North, Maple Grove, Prior Lake, Maple Grove, Benilde-St. Margaret’s and Moorhead join Elk River in St. Louis Park.

In Duluth, Marshall hosts East in a crosstown rivalry, followed a few days later with Hermantown meeting with Bemidji for a likely shot to face Delano, ranked No. 1 in the Class 1A state coaches' poll, in the semifinals of the Hilltopper Holiday Classic.

The Schwan Cup's four divisions (Gold, Silver, Bronze, Open) will be spread from the Super Rink in Blaine to Ridder Arena in Minneapolis, where a pair of quarterfinals, Centennial versus Minnetonka and Eden Prairie against Hill-Murray, draw our attention.

But it's another Pioneers matchup that captures this week's Top Game moniker, as the next chapter in their a storied rivalry with White Bear Lake takes center stage.
