The Lake Conference title race is shaping up to be a contested battle with all teams having one or two league wins entering this week.

Eden Prairie and Edina are both coming off losses in conference play, but a rivalry game may give both squads an added boost with six weeks left in the regular season.

The Eagles, ranked No. 8 in Class 4A by Minnesota Basketball News, fell to No. 6-4A Hopkins 84-77 last Friday, but Eden Prairie (9-6, 2-2) managed to pull off a 55-49 victory over No. 9-4A New Prague on Jan. 17 which snapped the Trojans' 12-game winning streak, propelling the Eagles into the Class 4A Top 10.

The No. 12-4A Hornets (9-3, 1-2), lost 78-75 to Minnetonka on Friday, their second conference loss this season. The other loss came against Eden Prairie on Dec 29.

Both teams appear in the running for the Lake Conference championship, and given the longstanding rivalry between the two west metro schools, Friday’s matchup is our pick for Top Game of the Week.
