Hockey Day Minnesota is in the rearview mirror and less than a month remains before section tournament time arrives.

In Class 2A, many of the top 10 teams from the state coaches' poll continue to take turns taking each other down, indicating that the big class might be the most wide open it has been in some time.

There are a few non-conference and non-section games of interest this week; Hill-Murray heads to Elk River, Delano hosts St. Cloud Cathedral, and St. Paul Johnson travels to Minnehaha Academy.

In the north, Grand Rapids hosts rival Greenway in a game sure to draw a crowd.

As expected, many conference battles continue to rage. In the Northwest Suburban Conference, Maple Grove hosts Centennial in a game of dual importance to both the conference and Class 2A, Section 5 standings, while Moorhead and Roseau face a similar situation when the Mariucci Conference foes and Class 2A, Section 8-mates meet up.

In the South Suburban Conference, red-hot rivals Lakeville North and Burnsville clash, while St. Cloud hosts Alexandria in a pivotal game at the top of the Central Lakes Conference and Breck heads to St. Paul Academy looking to maintain control of the Independent Metro Athletic Conference.

But it is the seemingly wide-open Lake Conference that draws our attention for this week's top game, with Edina hosting Minnetonka at Braemar Arena in a game that could have a huge impact on the hotly contested conference title.
