The final week of the regular season is at hand and attention is turning toward the postseason for many teams. While a few programs are still amid chases for conference titles, several also can make moves in the race for high seeds for the section tournaments.
Perhaps no team will be busier this week than Stillwater, which plays league rivals Cretin-Derham Hall and White Bear Lake before ending the regular season in a nonconference clash with Holy Family Catholic. The first two games will sort out the Suburban East Conference title race, while a win over the Bears on Thursday could secure a top seed in the Class 2A, Section 4 tournament for the Ponies.
Up north, Moorhead visits Bemidji on Tuesday in a battle between peaking Section 8 squads. Helped by a 13-game undefeated streak that includes three victories and one tie to section foes, the Spuds seem to have all but locked up the top seed.
The host Lumberjacks, who are 4-1 in their last five games against section rivals and also own a recent victory over Grand Rapids, can make their case for a higher seed with a victory.
With a red-hot Bemidji possibly giving a well-balanced Moorhead squad all it can handle, their matchup is the one we've chosen as our Top Game of the Week.
