Player of the Week candidates for Feb. 6-11

This week's winner

Preston Holt, Minneapolis. The senior goalie stopped 35 shots in a 2-1 win over Bloomington Kennedy, posting a .972 save percentage.

The other candidates

Luke Benson, Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato. The senior forward recorded a hat trick in a 3-2 win over Mound Westonka. Benson scored twice in the second period, then collected the game-winner 1:01 into overtime.

Michael DeLeon, Simley. The senior goalie stopped 42 shots for a .955 save percentage in a 3-2 win over North St. Paul.

Collin Dorzinski, New Prague. The sophomore goalie recorded a .978 save percentage after making 45 saves in a 2-1 win over Mound Westonka.

Trevor Dummer, Sartell-St. Stephen. Dummer recorded three points in a 4-3 win over Fergus Falls. The junior forward scored midway through the first period and again with just eight seconds remaining before the first intermission. He then assisted on the game-winner in overtime.

Bryar Flanders, Austin. In a 7-5 win over Simley, the junior defenseman recorded four points. Flanders started the scoring 15 seconds into the game, then added an assist and another goal in the first period. He completed his hat trick with a shorthanded goal – the eventual game-winner – with less than one minute left in the second.

Nicholas Gonrowski, Robbinsdale Armstrong/Cooper. Gonrowski contributed five points in a 7-6 win over Andover. The senior defenseman scored four goals, including the overtime game-winner, and added one assist.

Austin Heidemann, Breck. The senior forward scored four goals in a 5-3 win over Benilde-St. Margaret’s. Heidemann notched his third goal with three minutes remaining in the second period and added an empty-net insurance goal with 18 seconds left in the game.

Jake Seitz, Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl. Seitz scored three goals and added an assist in a 4-3 win over St. Paul Johnson. The junior forward assisted on the team’s first goal in second period before adding a shorthanded goal with 27 seconds left in the second. Seitz scored again midway through the third to tie the game before netting the game-winner less than five minutes into overtime.

Jack Westlund, Alexandria. Westlund recorded a hat trick in a 5-3 win over Sartell-St. Stephen. With his team trailing 3-0 after the first period, the sophomore forward got Alexandria on the board midway through the second period. He scored again with 10 seconds left in the period, then scored the game-winner with 54 seconds to play in the third.
