Former Robbinsdale Armstrong and Elite League defenseman to join Bulldogs

Former Robbinsdale Armstrong 2009 graduate Thomas Fallen has committed to Yale University and will join the Bulldogs as a freshman for the 2011-2012 season according to a Friday, Jan. 21, news release.

Fallen had originally given a verbal commitment to the United States Air Force Academy prior to his senior year in high school.

Several Division I programs showed interest in Fallen, who received multiple offers after his decision to retract his commitment to Air Force.

Fallen chose Yale University – that as of Friday, Jan. 21, not only holds a 15-2-0 overall record (10-1-0 conference record) but is also the top ranked team in the nation.

The 19-year-old defenseman was a 2009 participant in the Upper Midwest High School Elite Hockey League and has spent the past two years playing for the Cedar Rapids Roughriders of the United States Hockey League (USHL).

Fallen was selected as a captain on the Roughriders for the 2010-2011 season and has tallied 10 points (3 goals, 7 assists) this season.

According to the news release, Fallen was one of 22 USHL players selected to represent the United States in the 2010 World Junior A Challenge in Penticton, British Columbia last November. He registered two assists in four games to help lead Team USA to the gold medal in a come-from-behind 6-4 victory against Team Canada.

Fallen was also chosen to Robbinsdale Armstrong’s 40th anniversary team along with former Falcon defenders Jordan Leopold, Derek Peltier, Dennis Vaske, David Jensen and current Minnesota Wild Head Coach Todd Richards.
