Hermantown handling another heartbreak

Déjà vu all over again as Hawks lose second consecutive state title game

Two years, two title games, two heartbreaking losses.

Hermantown has proved it is a top Class 1A team the past two years but has fallen short at the state tournament.

Last year, it was a tough bounce off a Hawks' defenseman that gave Breck its second consecutive title. This year, it was a tricky shot towards the end of overtime that managed to fins its way through traffic and into the back of the net giving St. Thomas Academy the title.

Those bounces have left Hermantown and its coach Bruce Plante wondering one question.

"Why not us?"
