The senior defenseman uncorked the game-winning goal to cap Hill-Murray's 3-2 semifinal victory over Wayzata. Black has been a rock for the Pioneers all year long and will guide the storied program to its second-consecutive championship appearance.

Andy Jordahl was in the right place at the right time as he gathered the puck all alone in the slot and fired it passed Duluth East's goaltender for the state semifinal game-winner. Jordahl's goal sent the Hornets back to the finals for the first time since 2010, when they won the title.

In double overtime, the junior centerman cruised up the ice, picked up a pass from a diving teammate and buried the game-winner to send Hermantown to the Class A state title game. The Hawks beat Breck 4-3.

There's nothing sweeter in Minnesota sports than an overtime game-winner in The Tourney at Xcel Energy Center. Junior Chase Heising went top-shelf for the 2-1 clincher 4:01 into the first extra frame against Wayzata Thursday night. "We knew we were going to win, and we won."

The electric Connor Hurley deked, dangled and dazzled his way to a hat trick to help the Hornets beat Lakeville North 9-3 Thursday afternoon. The junior forward and Notre Dame recruit added an assist and finished with a plus-5 rating while fueling the high-powered Hornets to victory.

Hill-Murray's all-time leading scorer didn't disappoint in the Class 2A quarterfinal. Senior three-sport star Zach LaValle and Mr. Hockey finalist notched two goals and one assist as the No. 1-seeded Pioneers toppled Eastview 6-3.

Senior Chris Benson led the Hawks in scoring this season and he continued that trend Wednesday afternoon in Hermantown's 3-0 shutout over Duluth Marshall. Benson factored in all three goals, notching two assists in the second period and scoring the final goal in the third.
