Elk River at Andover
7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 16

Can anyone slow the offense of No. 6-2A Elk River (6-1-0), which is scoring more than eight goals a game? It will be fun to watch No. 20-2A Andover (2-3-1) and female goaltender Maddie Rooney give it a try.

The Elks have scored double-digit goals three times and have two lines that can score at any time. Mr. Hockey candidate Jake Jaremko (9-15-24) leads the Elks in scoring, just ahead of six other players who have at least 11 points, including Reggie Lutz (11-9-20) and youngsters Jax Murray (6-12-18) and Jensen Zerban (5-10-15). Coach Gordie Roberts’ team responded to its only loss (5-3 against Benilde-St. Margaret’s on Nov. 29) with 40 goals in its next four games.

Andover has been struggling lately, losing three straight games while being outscored 14-5. Rooney (2-3-1, 3.48, .893), a Minnesota-Duluth women’s program commit who decided to try out for the boys’ team at Andover as a senior, has played all but 21 minutes in goal.
