Holy Family Catholic at Minnetonka
7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 20

It’s a sign of how deep Class 2A, Section 6 is with talent that both No. 16-2A Holy Family Catholic (4-3-1) and Minnetonka (3-3-0) tend to get overlooked from time to time. Both are capable of knocking off almost any team in the state and will be tough outs in the playoffs.

Yet the two teams are different in other ways. The average Holy Family Catholic game features two goals per game more (both offensively and defensively) than a comparable Skippers’ game. The Fire’s more wide-open style has resulted in some nice victories, but also some big losses. Minnetonka, meanwhile, has already played four one-goal games out of six.

It shows up in the stats. Will Garin (6-9-15), John Peterson (8-6-14) and Matt Runyon (6-5-11) lead seven Fire players who have at least five points. Minnetonka’s Gavin Payne (4-4-8) is the only Skippers’ player with at least five points.
