Alexandria vs. St. Cloud Apollo
7:15 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 20

It’s a big week for No. 5-1A Alexandria (13-0-1), which makes our top-10 games of the week for the second time with a road game at No. 13-1A St. Cloud Apollo (12-2-2).

The Eagles are the only team to depart Alexandria without a loss, earning a 4-4 tie back on Dec. 4. Gino Lucia (9-9-18) scored twice and Logan Traut (1-4-5) knotted the game with 4:07 to play. Veteran goaltender Nick Althaus (11-2-2, 1.47, .919) also came up big for Apollo, making 30 saves. Alexandria leading goal scorer Alec Wosepka (14-4-18) scored twice for the Cardinals.

Apollo has been nearly as hot as Alexandria, winning 11 straight games since starting the year 1-2-2. In those 11 games, the Eagles have outscored their opponents by a combined 52-9, an utterly dominating run for coach Pete Matanich’s squad.

Along with No. 8-1A St. Cloud Cathedral and No. 18-1A Sartell-St. Stephen, it should be a terrific race to the finish in Class 1A, Section 6.
