Eden Prairie at Edina
3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 14

Edina has already wrapped up the regular season Lake Conference title thanks to a 6-2 victory over Hopkins on Feb. 7. The Hornets are a perfect 6-0-0 in the circuit and have a three-game lead on Eden Prairie with just two games to play. They’re also on an 11-game winning streak in which only two teams have even come within two goals (a 3-1 win over Hill-Murray on Dec. 31 and a 3-2 victory at White Bear Lake three days later).

Want more domination? In those 11 games, No. 2-2A Edina (20-1-2) has outscored its opponents by a combined 65-21. The two-time defending state Class 2A champions appear ready to defend their title, with a deep lineup that includes three 20-plus goal scorers — Garrett Wait (21-40-61), Dylan Malmquist (23-37-60) and Matt Masterman (21-12-33) — and a dozen players with double-digit points.

No. 5-2A Eden Prairie (15-8-0) has won five of six games to surge back into the top 5 in the Class 2A rankings, but the only loss in that stretch was a 5-0 whitewashing by Edina on Jan. 29. Malmquist scored twice and goaltender Kobi Boe (17-1-2, 2.77, .910) stopped all 29 shots he faced, shutting down the Eagles’ high-scoring duo of Casey Mittelstadt (21-24-45) and Michael Graham (21-22-43).
