Benilde-St. Margaret's at Hill-Murray
7:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 3

Benilde-St. Margaret's travels to Hill-Murray in a classic nonconference matchup between two of the metro’s heavyweights, and neither team has elected to ease into the season with a comfortable schedule.

The No. 9-2A Red Knights (3-0) will have played four times before heading to Aldrich Arena on Thursday. They headed north over the weekend to face (and defeat) Duluth Marshall (8-2 on Friday) and No. 3-2A Grand Rapids (4-3 on Saturday). On Tuesday, Benilde-St. Margaret's is on the road to face a talented Burnsville team.

Through the first three games of the season, the Red Knights have been getting scoring production from all over the place. Ten different players have goals so far, though only one player - senior forward Auggie Moore - has more than two. Moore has three goals and five points total.

Hill-Murray, meanwhile, will play for just the second time this season when Benilde-St. Margaret's rolls into town. However, the No. 4-2A Pioneers (1-0) will certainly be tested early this season with games on the horizon against No. 5-2A Wayzata, White Bear Lake and Maple Grove just on the other side of the meeting with the Red Knights.

Freshman Ben Helgeson made a big impact during his varsity debut last week against Burnsville, scoring twice to help lead Hill-Murray to a come-from-behind road win.

On defense, senior Casey Staum heads up a strong back unit for the Pioneers. Staum, a Nebraska-Omaha recruit, was recently named to the Star Tribune’s preseason metro dream team and was one of 12 prep skaters listed on the NHL Central Scouting watch list for the 2016 draft.
