Grand Rapids at Roseau
7:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 4

Grand Rapids opened the season with what has to be considered the toughest opening-week schedule in the state.

Under the guidance of first-year head coach Trent Klatt, the No. 3-2A Thunderhawks kept busy with 1-1 tie to No. 10-2A Bemidji, followed by a 5-2 win over No. 12-2A Minnetonka on Nov. 27, and then a 4-3 loss to No. 9-2A Benilde-St. Margaret’s on Nov. 28.

Roseau has the same record, just done in different fashion. After dropping its season-opener at No. 11-1A Thief River Falls (6-3) on Nov. 24, the Rams tied St. Michael-Albertville on Nov. 27, and then broke through for their first win against Fargo Davies (2-1) on Nov. 28.

Junior forward Brandon Lund is leading the team in goals with three.

Micah Miller, Gavin Hain, Mitchell Mattson and John Stampohar already have two goals this season for Grand Rapids, while Miller leads the team with five points.

When the teams met last year, Grand Rapids won decisively 8-1 on its home ice.
