Junior forwards Bram Scheerer and Ben Copeland each scored twice in Edina’s 5-2 victory over Lake Conference rival Hopkins Thursday night at Braemar Arena.

The Hornets (11-6-2, 2-1), ranked No. 10 in the Class 2A coaches' poll, scored on their first shot of the game as Copeland beat Royals goalie Parker Swanson on a wrist shot from the slot.

Trailing 2-0 at the end of the first period, Hopkins (6-10-1, 0-3) erased the deficit with two unanswered goals in the second. The first was off the stick of Riley Martin while the second was an unassisted score from forward Jack Sweeney.

Copeland notched his second goal with less than a minute remaining in the second to put Edina back in front.

The Royals had a chance to even the game in the third, but the tying shot bounced off the pipe. Minutes later, the Hornets scored the game-clinching goal, and Scheerer tallied his second goal with one minute to play.

Swanson finished with 26 saves while Edina's Charlie deGrood had 17.
