Lakeville North vs. Duluth East
1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 6

Duluth is the site for this year’s Hockey Day Minnesota, and taking center stage for the prep games is a rematch of last year’s Class 2A state championship game.

The Lakeville North/Duluth East game is part of an outdoor event at Bayfront Park, a stone’s throw from Lake Superior. It is a unique but cold setting with a high temperature that might not get above single digits.

The No. 7-2A Panthers (14-5-1) enter the week with healthy statistics to support most everything they do. Lakeville North is converting on the power play at 35 percent while killing penalties at 84.2 percent.

Five Panthers have double-digit goal totals, led by senior Max Johnson (24 goals, 37 points). Junior Ryan Poehling and Henry Enebak have a combined 80 points for the season.

The No. 17-2A Greyhounds (12-7) closed last week with a big victory over Elk River and look to continue to build on that in-section momentum when Cloquet/Esko/Carlton comes to town Monday for another Section 7 battle.

After a game with Hopkins on Thursday, Duluth East caps a busy week with Lakeville North.
