Eden Prairie at Minnetonka
7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 4

As the powerful Lake Conference teams continue to beat up on each other, Thursday night’s showdown between Eden Prairie and Minnetonka at Pagel Arena promises to offer more of the same, along with Class 2A, Section 2 seeding implications.

The No. 2-A Eagles are likely to drop in the rankings after two losses (4-3 to Edina and 4-2 to Wayzata) last week.

There is no letup, however, with the No. 5-2A Skippers waiting for Eden Prairie on Thursday, followed by a rematch with No. 1-2A Benilde-St. Margeret’s on Saturday night.

The Eagles (15-5-2) are led in scoring by junior forward Casey Mittelstadt (19-30-49), who enters the week one point shy of 50 for the season.

Minnetonka (15-6-0) enters the week down three spots in the rankings after losing to Wayzata and Benilde-St. Margaret's, but the Skippers picked up a 5-2 win Saturday over No. 11-2A Edina.

Still, Minnetonka has enjoyed a sturdy January in which it won seven of nine games, The Skippers are starting to develop into a legitimate contender in Class 2 A, Section 2, where they, along with Holy Family Catholic and Prior Lake are chasing likely top seed Eden Prairie.
