Bemidji at Brainerd
7:15 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 2

It's a Class 2A, Section 8 showdown on Tuesday when Brainerd meets Bemidji for a second time this season, but perhaps not the last time.

Bemidji (17-2-2) has been impressive all season, outscoring its opposition by an average of nearly three goals per game (4.67 to 1.81) while killing penalties at better than 86 percent.

The No. 9-2A Lumberjacks have an offense by committee, as six skaters enter the week having between 11-13 goals.

The goaltending for Bemidji has been particularly effective. Sophomore Matt Fitzgerald has a 14-2-2 record with a 1.89 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage while backup Carson Olson is 3-0 with a .937 save percentage and a 1.25 GAA.

The Warriors (12-8-1) enter the week off of a disappointing 10-2 loss at Centennial, but Brainerd had previously won four of five in the comforts of the northland. The Warriors, who have five skaters with more than 12 goals, are led by Josh Howieson’s 17 goals (17-12-29) and Matt Fischer’s 30 points (13-17-30).

The first meeting on Dec. 19 went in the Lumberjacks' favor after the Bemidji scored three times in the third period and finished with three power-play goals to top Brainerd 6-4.
