Minnetonka at Edina
7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 11

It’s a big event when Minnetonka and Edina face each other, and Thursday night’s Lake Conference showdown at Braemar Arena is no exception.

The No. 5-2A Skippers (16-6-1, 5-1-1) have enjoyed a strong January that saw them rise as high as No. 2 in the polls while battling through one of the toughest schedules around, and Minnetonka enters the regular season's final week in good shape.

Defense continues to get things done for the Skippers, though four different players have double-digit goal totals, led by senior Brendan Skarda (14 goals, 31 points).

Minnetonka took the first two meetings with Edina, including a 5-2 win at Pagel Activity Center on Jan. 23. The shots were even at 24, but the Skippers came out victories as five skaters finished with a goal.

Edina (13-8-2, 3-3-0) has been up and down this season as the No. 10-2A Hornets struggle to score goals consistently, and the team has never lost more than two straight games.

Individually, sophomore forward and Gophers recruit Sam Walker (18-17-35) leads Edina in scoring and has six special teams goals (2 power play, 4 shorthanded). Junior forwards Ben Copeland (14-19-33) and Bram Scheerer (12-15-17) have increased their offensive production as well.
