Delano vs. Breck
7:15 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 29

Delano returns a dozen seniors and eight juniors from a squad that went 20-8 a year ago. Among the returners for the No. 4-1A Tigers (1-0) are senior forward and Maine commit Ben Meyers (33 goals and 66 points last season) and Michigan Tech commit Brian Halonen (19 goals, 46 points), who enters the season after leading the Upper Midwest High School Elite Hockey League with 26 points.

Tuesday’s game at Breck’s Anderson Ice Arena in Golden Valley is the only scheduled meeting between these rivals who have met in the Class 1A, Section 2 final three of the last four years. Breck won all three games, including last year in a 5-3 victory.

The No. 2-1A Mustangs (0-1) must locate a new offensive leader following the graduation of Chase Ellingson, now playing in the USHL. Senior captain Mitch Machlitt is expected to take up the offensive burden, having totaled 26 goals and 50 points a season ago.
