Elk River vs. Centennial
3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10

Centennial hosts Elk River Saturday afternoon in a Northwest Suburban Conference, North Division clash that could go a long way in determining the league title.

Elk River, ranked No. 4 in Class 2A in the state coaches’ poll, is expected to be one of the best teams in the state with the Perbix brothers (Nick, a senior committed to St. Cloud State, and Jack, a sophomore Notre Dame recruit) leading the way. The Elks (2-0) are off to a strong start to the season, outscoring their opponents 19-0 with 11 different skaters netting at least one goal.

Centennial is a program on the rise again, and the No. 9-2A Cougars (2-0) are also playing well early in the season. Through the first two games, senior forwards Graham Brickner and Matthew Jennrich each have three goals.

A year ago, the teams tied 2-2 at Elk River in December while the Elk's recorded a 4-1 road victory in late January.
