Elk River vs. Edina
8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 16

Elk River plays Edina in another Holiday Classic matchup between teams ranked in the top 10 of the Class 2A coaches' poll. Both teams are loaded with Division I talent, and their game follows the Grand Rapids-Eden Prairie showdown, making Friday's double-header a must-see.

Elk River has started strong behind goaltender Ben Meyers, who began his senior season with two shutouts.

The No. 4-2A Elks (4-0) have afforded plenty of offense to augment its defensive brand, averaging 7.5 goals per game while outscoring opponents 30-1. Elk River's power play is converting at 47 percent, with six skaters having scored while the Elks had the man advantage.

Edina should enter its tournament well-rested with 12 days since it last played. The No. 6-2A Hornets (3-1) also take an impressive winning streak into the week, one in which they've rolled three quality opponents by a combined score of 16-3.

Veterans Sam Walker (5-3-8) and Bram Scheerer (2-5-7) lead Edina on offense.
