Grand Rapids vs. Holy Family Catholic
7:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 6

Grand Rapids continues to make trips south to face some of the metro’s top competition, and Holy Family Catholic should provide another test Friday night in Victoria.

The Fire (7-3-1, 3-0) went winless at the Sports Authority Holiday Classic in St. Louis Park last week, bringing them back to earth after a nearly flawless stretch of hockey before Christmas.

Despite the losses, No. 6-2A Holy Family Catholic's mix of Division I talent and depth makes it one of the state's elite teams.

Junior defenseman James Marooney (8-8-16) leads the Fire in scoring, while goalie Jared Moe has a 7-3-1 record with 1.53 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage.

Grand Rapids (9-1-1) would like a victory against a top-tier team after a mediocre stretch over the holiday break.

The top guns continue to produce for the No. 3-2A Thunderhawks, as Micah Miller (11-19-30), Blake McLaughlin (12-14-26) and Gavin Hain (10-15-25) have combined for more than 30 goals.
