Breck at Minnehaha Academy
7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 12

Minnehaha Academy is having an outstanding start to its season, and a win over tradition-rich Breck would go a long way toward legitimizing the team as one of the best in Class 1A.

The No. 12-1A Redhawks (12-1, 1-0) are averaging three goals more per game (4.62) than they allow (1.62) and ride a nine-game winning streak into the showdown with the No. 4-1A Mustangs.

Minnehaha Academy has the state’s best goaltender in terms of save percentage (.948) and wins (12) in senior captain Justin Evenson.

Breck (8-3-1, 2-0) seems to be the team to beat in the Independent Metro Athletic Conference after defeating No. 3-1A St. Paul Academy 3-2 Saturday afternoon. The Mustangs have lost just one game since November and have never scored less than two goals in any game thus far.

Seniors Carter Breitenfeldt (8-16-24) and Mitch Machlitt (13-5-18) have been Breck’s top offensive producers.
