Lakeville North at Lakeville South
7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 12

Lakeville North has dominated this rivalry lately, but a veteran Lakeville South squad that is playing well this year could turn things around this time.

The Panthers have won the last seven regular-season meetings, a streak that dates back to Feb. 2, 2013. A 5-1 victory on Dec. 20, 2012 was the Cougars' last win.

Lakeville South is scoring four goals per game and surrendering less than two (1.92), helping the No. 16-2A Cougars (8-3-1, 5-2) to a four-game winning streak that started in mid-December. Most recently, they shut out defending Class 2A, Section 1 champion Farmington 4-0 on the road Saturday night.

The team full of upperclassmen, Lakeville South is led by senior forwards Bradley Golant (8-7-15), Joey Novak (9-3-12) and Cory Checco (7-2-9), as well as defenseman and captain Josh Ess (2-12-14), a Wisconsin commit.

Lakeville North has endured one of the state's toughest schedules and has more than held its own. The No. 7-2A Panthers (8-2-2, 5-1-1) are powered by a mix of senior veterans and new talent, which generates offensive production at 4.5 goals per game.

Junior forward Blake Brandt (11-12-23) and seniors Henry Enebak (9-14-23), Tommy Klans (9-7-16) and Max McGlade (9-5-14) lead the team in scoring.
