Eden Prairie vs Stillwater
1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 21

The main event at Hockey Day Minnesota in Stillwater this Saturday, Eden Prairie battles Stillwater in an outdoor game at Lowell Park on the edge of the St. Croix River.

With a nearly plus-4 goal differential and a power play that hits at 40 percent, the No. 1-2A Ponies have been impressive on offense this season.

However, Stillwater recorded its first loss of the season last Saturday night, falling to No. 16-2A White Bear Lake 2-1 despite outshooting the Bears 29-18.

Seniors Noah Cates (13-21-34) and Luke Manning (9-20-29) are averaging greater than two points per game for Stillwater (13-1, 8-1).

Eden Prairie (9-4-2, 2-1) is fresh off victories at Cloquet-Esko-Carlton (3-1) and Duluth East (3-2). Winners of three straight, the No. 8-2A Eagles head into a challenging three-day stretch, with games against Stillwater and Lake Conference rival Edina -- arguably the two best teams in the state.

Seniors Casey Mittelstadt (10-15-25), Hunter Johannes (8-14-22) and Nolan Sullivan (7-10-17) produce the bulk of the offense for Eden Prairie, while junior defenseman Nicky Leivermann (6-8-14) has made a big impact since his return from a lower body injury at the holiday break.
