Cretin-Derham Hall vs. St. Thomas Academy
7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 31

After beating White Bear Lake 3-2 last Tuesday, Cretin-Derham Hall (12-5, 10-1) moved into a tie for first place with Stillwater in the Suburban East Conference standings. The unranked Raiders could be the most underrated metro team as they roll into this east metro showdown with St. Thomas Academy.

Cretin-Derham Hall freshman Mike Gleason (13-7-20) leads the team in goals and senior Joseph Gimberlin (11-11-22) is the top points producer. In goal, Mike Magnuson has been a rock (2.42 goals-against average, .913 save percentage).

St. Thomas Academy (14-4-1, 7-2) has been through a tested schedule. The Cadets have a strong goal differential (4.74 to 1.58), and the penalty kill has been 92 percent effective (46-of-50), which is second best in the state.

The bulk of the scoring for the No. 10-2A Cadets has come from Payton Matsui (15-9-24), Willie Reim (13-17-30), and Ray Christy (12-15-27), who each have a dozen or more goals.
