Grand Rapids vs. White Bear Lake
3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 4

Grand Rapids and White Bear Lake both possess top forwards and two top lines that can compete with anybody, which could make for plenty of offense on Saturday.

Grand Rapids (14-4-1, 0-1) has won four straight after back-to-back losses to Hermantown (4-3) and Duluth East (5-0) two weeks ago dropped Thunderhawks in the Class 2A poll and hit them in section seeding process.

Now that Grand Rapids is back on the winning track, the No. 9-ranked Thunderhawks are to be tested with a trip south to play at Wayzata on Friday night and No. 14-2A White Bear Lake on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Micah Miller (18-32-50), a St. Cloud State commit, continues to lead Grand Rapids and is supported by two talented forwards who are committed to Division I programs: Gavin Hain (18-21-39) is headed to North Dakota and Blake McLaughlin (15-28-43) is a Minnesota recruit. Together, the trio accounts for 51 of the team’s 90 goals.

White Bear Lake (10-5-3, 7-3-1) enters the week on a disappointing stretch, winning only one of its last four games. The Bears are looking to compete with Stillwater and Hill-Murray in Class 2A, Section 4 and would benefit from a win over a top-10 team going into the last portion of the regular season.

Junior Max Jennrich (18-9-27) and Chase Hamstad (11-20-31) have combined for nearly 30 goals and 60 points.
