St. Cloud Cathedral vs. St. Cloud
8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 9

The Battle in the Granite City takes place Thursday night at the National Hockey Center as the city’s only two remaining teams square off.

St. Cloud, the combination of Apollo and Tech, is off to a solid start, with strong supporting numbers in the goals for (4.42) and against (2.63) ratio, and a penalty kill that works at 91 percent efficiency.

Junior forward Nick Portz (19-17-36) continues to lead St. Cloud (11-7-1, 9-2-1) in scoring.

St. Cloud Cathedral (16-4-2, 2-0) is winners of two straight after a pair of losses to Breck and Delano derailed the Crusaders in late January.

Just three games remain for St. Cloud Cathedral, who is in a good position to earn the top seed in Class 1A, Section 6. Jake Van Halbeck (25-28-53), a senior forward, is the No. 5-1A Crusader's top scorer.
