Greenway vs. Mahtomedi

7:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 15

Greenway graduated 17 seniors last spring but is balanced by a talented underclassmen group that made it to the Bantam A state tournament the past two years.

Leading the No. 4-1A Raiders is junior forward Donte Lawson (13-4-17), who is third in the state with 13 goals on the season. He found the net twice and added three assists in Greenway's 5-3 win over No. 5-1A East Grand Forks last Saturday.

The Raiders (5-0, 1-0) have also relied on St. Cloud State sophomore recruits Christian Miller (2-4-6) and Ben Troumbly (3-4-7) for offense.

Mahtomedi started the season with an impressive 3-3 tie against Hill-Murray, which helped knock the Pioneers outside the Class 2A's top 10 rankings. The Zephyrs (1-0-1, 1-0-1) followed the tie with an 8-0 shutout of North St. Paul.

Sam Ayd netted his second goal of the game against Hill-Murray with six seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime, where No. 3-1A Mahtomedi rattled off seven shots to the Pioneers' two.

Zephyrs Goalie Bailey Huber has a .940 save percentage through two starts, stopping 47 of the 50 shots he’s faced this season.
