Centennial vs. Duluth East

7:00 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 19

When it comes to veteran experience, Centennial and Duluth East are two of the state's deepest teams. That wealth of experience has led to neither team losing a game this season, though both squads have tied in overtime.

With 29 total returners between both teams' rosters, there's plenty of familiarity from last year's matchup that showcased Centennial's versatility after the Cougars played 14 of the opening 34 minutes shorthanded, before securing a 4-2 victory.

The Greyhounds, ranked second in the Class 2A coaches' poll, aim to avenge the loss in which they outshot the Cougars 27-17. Preseason Mr. Hockey candidate Garret Worth (7-5-12) leads a group of four skaters with double digits for Duluth East (3-0-2), which has plenty of motivation to improve after tying rival Cloquet-Esko-Carlton 6-6 last Thursday.

Carter Wagner, a 6-foot-2 senior forward, leads No. 6-2A Centennial with six goals and eight assists. His combination of size and skill has helped set the tone for the Cougars (5-0-1, 1-0-1) this season.

The Greyhounds will be eager to avenge last year's loss and end a five-game losing streak to Centennial, while the Cougars aim to improve their ranking against their toughest opponent yet, making this meeting of two of Class 2A's best our featured Top Game of the Week.
