Class 2A, Section 8
Defending section champion and last year’s state Class 2A runner-up Moorhead received the No. 1 seed on Wednesday in a vote of Class 2A, Section 8 coaches.
The Spuds (18-6-0) are ranked No. 8 in the latest Class 2A state coaches poll, just ahead of No. 9 Brainerd (18-6-0) the section’s No. 3 seed.
St. Michael-Albertville (19-5-0) is the No. 2 seed, and No. 4 St. Cloud (18-6-0) rounded out the top seeds in the eight-team section. All four quarterfinal games are scheduled for Feb. 20 at the home rinks of the higher seeds.
Heading into Wednesday night’s game against Hill-Murray, Moorhead had won eight straight games including four against section foes (3-0 over Roseau, 4-1 over Rogers, 3-0 over St. Cloud and 9-0 over Bemidji).
