Lakeville South vs. Eagan

7 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 5

Lakeville South's (5-4, 4-1) defense allowed about 1.60 goals per game until a 6-4 loss on Dec. 29 against Benilde-St. Margaret's. That impressive defense will go up against Eagan skaters who have a history of regularly finding the back of the net on Saturday.

Henry Welsch is among the top 10 goaltenders in the state right now, backing a stingy Cougars defense with a 1.63 goals-against average in net and a .933 save percentage to go with two shutouts.

Eagan’s Keegan Johnson (eighth in the state in points with 27) leads the Wildcats, who are off to a 7-3 start and are 4-1 in South Suburban Conference play.

Johnson (9-18-27) headlines a trio of Wildcats (7-3, 4-1) that have nine goals. He's joined by Jonny Meiers (9-12-21) and Nick Sherek (9-11-20).
