Andover vs. Maple Grove

7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 10

Two of the top teams in the Northwest Suburban Conference face off on Thursday, when Andover caps a four-game stretch at Maple Grove.

The Huskies played league rivals Elk River and Centennial last week, then will see Blake on Tuesday, before their showdown with the Crimson.

Andover's undefeated start to the season has been highlighted by the impressive play of Ben Fritsinger. The senior goaltender owns a 9-0-1 record, a 0.96 goals-against average and a .949 save percentage, along with three shutouts for the No. 2-2A Huskies (11-0-1, 4-0-1).

The No. 4-2A Crimson (10-1-1, 3-0) will try to crack Fritsinger with a trio of 20-point scorers: Justin Janicke (7-19-26), Kyle Kukkonen (10-12-22) and Trevor Kukkonen (10-10-20).

While Thursday's tilt is a conference clash — and these teams play in different sections — a victory could help one team cement its status as the lead dog in the race for the top seed in the postseason.
