“The best line to ever play high school hockey in Minnesota was the Eveleth line in 1945 – Pat Finnegan, Wally Grant and Neil Celley,” another Eveleth star, John Matchefts, told the Star Tribune in 1999. Grant’s nine goals led the way as Eveleth won the inaugural state tournament.
