New Ulm established itself as the Big South Conference’s premiere team by roaring past Minnesota River 6-1 last Friday. The Eagles (8-2-0) are unbeaten in conference play at 8-0-0 while the other three top contenders for the crown — Minnesota River, Waseca and Windom — all have three league losses each.

Senior Jace Addy leads the Eagles in goals with 10 points, while junior Braxten Hoffmann has the most points with 23. Senior Joey Gag ranks ninth among state goaltenders with a 1.39 goals-against average and 10th with a .941 save percentage. He stopped 14 of 15 shots against the Bulldogs on Feb. 19.

Minnesota River (8-3-0) is fueled by the scoring of senior Brady Sowder (10 goals) and Seth Reicks (9 goals).
