No. 11 St. Thomas Academy at No. 16 Cretin-Derham Hall

At Highland Arena, St. Paul

Two of the premier Twin Cities’ east side private schools renew their rivalry Tuesday night and both are again contenders to reach the state tournament. But unlike past years, they’ll have to go through each other, as St. Thomas Academy moved up into Section 3AA this winter, joining the Raiders. This should be a huge game for section seeding as it’s the only time they’ll play each other in the regular season. In spite of a couple of Suburban East Conference stumbles in the past two weeks, Cretin-Derham Hall remains atop the league entering February. But the gap has narrowed. Junior Nick Reis (17-16-33) leads the Raiders in scoring and was on a seven-game goal-scoring streak until being shut down the last two games. Still, he has points in 15 straight games. The Cadets had won four straight until falling to Breck last Saturday. University of Minnesota recruit Tom Novak (15-29-44) paces St. Thomas Academy in scoring.
