Red Knight freshman becomes second BSM defenseman to commit to Tigers.

Benilde-St. Margaret's freshman defenseman Tristan Sarsland has made a verbal commit to attend Colorado College and play hockey for the Tigers.

Sarsland joins fellow Red Knight blueliner Nate Schweitzer in having committed to Colorado College.

BSM posted its first 20-win campaign in three seasons and reached the Section 6AA championship for the first time since 2013.

"Tristan has as much raw physical ability of any ninth-grade defensemen that we have seen here," Red Knight head coach Ken Pauly said. "Like any ninth grader taking regular varsity shifts, Tristan has some struggles, but he continues to get better and was playing very well by season's end."

Sarsland scored three goals and 11 points while playing all 28 games this season. He was second on the team with a plus/minus rating of +21.

The 6-0, 165-pound rookie had season highs with three assists and four points in BSM's 7-1 Section 6AA quarterfinal win over Holy Angels, Feb. 21.

Tristan Sarsland registered three goals and 11 points during his freshman campaign as a Red Knight.

"It will be very exciting to watch his growth in the next three seasons," Pauly added. "Red Knight hockey fans have a lot to look forward to."

The Red Knights finished the season with a 20-8-0 record and were runners-up in the Section 6AA playoffs.
