We task our reporters with identifying several intriguing games throughout the state to assemble our Top Games of the Week. The matchups are presented in no particular order, and when there are additional games we want to highlight, we’ll include them with brief notes.

Other games to keep an eye on

Duluth Denfeld vs. Hermantown, 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 19. A new northern power appears to be on the rise in No. 8-1A Duluth Denfeld (5-1-1, 0-1-0), and the Hunters will be led by the sophomore McClure twins Connor (18 points) and Cooper (14 points) as they take on perennial juggernaut No. 1-1A Hermantown (4-1-1, 1-0-0).

Benilde-St. Margaret’s vs. Wayzata, 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 19. Don’t look now but Wayzata has won four straight, and with senior goaltender Garret Bonello heating up, the Trojans (4-3-0, 0-0-0) appear capable of challenging Class 2A, Section 6 favorite No. 6-2A Benilde-St. Margaret’s (4-2-1, 0-0-0) come playoff time.

Mankato East at Hutchinson, 7 p.m., Thursday Dec. 19. Hutchinson has already played a whopping 10 games. Even more impressive is the Tigers (8-2-0, 1-2-0), led by Hayden Jensen’s 11 goals and Austin Jozwick’s 10, have won eight of those.
