We task our reporters with identifying several intriguing games throughout the state to assemble our Top Games of the Week. The matchups are presented in no particular order, and when there are additional games we want to highlight, we’ll include them with brief notes.
Edina vs. Hill-Murray, 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 3. The opener of a two-night, home-and-home series, Edina (6-5-1, 0-0-0) and star defenseman Jake Boltmann travel across the metro to square off against standout goaltender Remington Keopple and No. 6-2A Hill-Murray (7-2-2, 4-0-1).
Grand Forks Central (N.D.) vs. East Grand Forks, 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 2. This is a rematch of a Dec. 3 meeting that ended in 3-2 victory for East Grand Forks that snapped Grand Forks Central’s 43-game unbeaten streak. No doubt that Central, which hadn’t lost since Jan. 2, 2018, would love to reverse that outcome against standout forward Landon Parker and the No. 3-1A Green Wave (8-1-2, 2-1-0).
Minnetonka vs. Wayzata, 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 2. The holiday tourney season was good for both of these Lake Conference teams, most notably Wayzata (8-3-1, 1-0-0) and top scorer Jake Schneider as the Trojans went 3-0-0 to extend their unbeaten streak to nine games.
