Top games: White Bear Lake, Cretin-Derham Hall clash in Suburban East Conference tilt

Jan. 28: The Bears, who have seemed dominant at times, can atone for some surprising losses with a victory over the streaking Raiders.

We task our reporters with identifying several intriguing games throughout the state to assemble our Top Games of the Week. The matchups are presented in no particular order, and when there are additional games we want to highlight, we’ll include them with brief notes.






Other games to keep an eye on

Rosemount vs. Lakeville South, 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 30. Luke Levandowski (23 goals) leads No. 3-2A Rosemount (15-4-0, 8-3-0) against South Suburban Conference rival Lakeville South (12-6-0, 8-3-0) and senior Zack Oelrich (29 points).

Northfield vs. Owatonna, 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 30. Big 9 Conference and Class 2A, Section 1 implications are abundant for both Carson VanZuilen-led Northfield (11-7-0, 9-1-0) and Owatonna (13-4-0, 7-1-0) and standout goaltender Zach Wiese.

Hermantown vs. Hill-Murray, 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 1. Mr. Hockey candidate Blake Biondi leads No. 2-1A Hermantown (13-1-4, 3-0-0) in its matchup against sophomore standout Nick Pierre and Hill-Murray (12-5-2, 5-1-1).
