Top performer winner

Max Wilmer, Chisago Lakes. Junior goaltender, playing in his eighth game this season, made a season-high 47 saves as the Wildcats defeated Pine City Area 3-2 in overtime. One goal against was on a penalty kill, and he made five saves in overtime.

Top performer candidates

Dylan Cook, Princeton. The junior forward erupted for 10 points during an 11-4 win at Cambridge-Isanti on Jan. 28. Cook’s 10 points in a single game is a new record, according to the Minnesota State High School League. Cook bested his previous season high of eight points, also recorded against Cambridge-Isanti earlier this season. He scored four goals and added six assists, and extended his points streak to 13 games.

Cole Hansen, Blaine. Hansen factored into all goals during the Bengals’ 4-3 overtime victory against Centennial on Jan. 30. The senior forward notched a power-play goal to get the scoring started midway through the first period. With his team trailing by two goals with a half-dozen minutes left, Hansen registered an assist, then he scored the game-tying goal with 22 seconds left. He then assisted on the winner 40 seconds into overtime. 

Jase Jensen, Breckenridge/Wahpeton. The senior forward recorded nine points between two wins last week. At Prairie Centre on Jan. 30, the Blades won 6-3 as Jensen recorded a hat trick and an assist. One goal was short-handed. Then, against Red Lake Falls on Feb. 1, Jensen and the Blades’ effort fell just short, as they lost 6-5 while Jensen tallied five points — three goals in the first half of the game and two assists, including one on a power play.

Mitch Kotek, Minnesota River. The sophomore goaltender helped the Bulldogs win a close game while making 40 saves — good for a .976 save % — in their 2-1 triumph over Marshall on Feb. 1. The win was his third game this season with 40 or more saves, all of them wins.

Joe Miller, Blake. The Bears earned two wins last week where their offense put up double digits in points, with Miller accounting for nine points himself between the two games. During a 13-0 rout of Minnehaha Academy on Jan. 28, Miller scored once and added three assists. One assist was short-handed. Against Totino-Grace on Feb. 1 he scored twice, including once short-handed. He added three assists, including one on a power play.

Parker Mitchell, Mora/Milaca. Mitchell tallied a season-high four goals and five points as the Mustangs defeated St. Paul Highland Park 5-3 on Jan. 30 and avenged a 3-2 overtime loss to the same team in December. The sophomore forward scored his first goal on a power play in the second period. He then tallied his remaining four points in the third — two goals at even strength, a power-play assist, and finally a power-play goal with 37 seconds left in the game.

Glavine Schugel, New Ulm. The Eagles had an outstanding week, earning three wins by a combined score of 29-5. At Windom on Jan. 27, the senior forward recorded one goal and five assists, leading the Eagles’ 9-2 win. The next night, Schugel topped his points total from the night before, scoring four times and tallying three assists to lead the Eagles' victory against Fairmont 16-2. To close out their week, the Eagles defeated Luverne 4-1 as Schugel contributed three third-period points, scoring twice and adding one assist. He contributed 16 total points during the week.

Tyler Steffens, White Bear Lake. The senior goaltender and the Bears earned two home wins last week, first defeating Roseville 8-3 on Jan. 30 as Steffens recorded a .921 save % with 35 saves. Then on Feb. 1, he stopped 40 shots to lead back the Bears’ 2-1 overtime win against Blaine. 

Riley Weinand, Sauk Rapids-Rice. The junior goaltender recorded his highest save total in a win this season, recording his first shutout of the season as he stopped 47 shots to backstop the Storm’s 3-0 win at Sartell-St. Stephen on Jan. 31
