Relentless, tireless, fearless. Andover sends out line after line after line of forwards, all of whom comfortably wear the same adjectives. They aren’t clones, but they might as well be given that they all look the same when measured by hustle, and grit and determination.
And then there’s junior Garrett Schifsky. Yeah, he fits right in with the rest of the Huskies in terms of speed, and work ethic and selflessness. But there’s something just a little bit different about the winger who wears No. 17.
“He’s the one kid on our team that lives to score,” Andover coach Mark Manney said after Saturday night’s 3-0 victory over Blaine in front of a capacity Andover Community Center crowd estimated at 1,100.

Will Larson made 25 saves as Andover registered its eighth shutout of the season on Saturday in a regular season-ending 3-0 victory over Blaine that clinched the Northwest Suburban Conference championship for the Huskies, ranked No. 1 in the Class 2A coaches’ poll.
A capacity Andover Community Center Senior Night crowd was treated to early fireworks, as the Huskies’ Harrison VanderMey and Mitchell Wolfe scored in the first 7:52 for a 2-0 lead.
Garrett Schifsky added a power-play goal late in the second period to complete the scoring for Andover (21-3-1, 11-0-1), which has won 12 straight.
The loss was the first in conference play for Blaine (17-8-0, 11-1-0), the likely No. 1 seed in Class 2A, Section 5.
Blaine goaltender Ryan Wallin finished with 39 saves.
