Top performer winner

Kyle Ahlschlager, Waseca. As a sophomore just three games into this unique season, Ahlschlager has already found himself in the record books. After recording eight points between the Bluejays’ first two wins of the season, Ahlschlager tallied nine points — six goals and three assists — in Waseca's 12-4 defeat of Fairmont on Jan. 21. According to the Minnesota State High School League, that total has only been achieved one other time, when New Prague’s Schyler Adams did so in 2009.

T.J. Gibson, Rochester Century. When the Panthers found themselves with a three-goal deficit midway through the first period against Winona on Jan. 16, the sophomore forward provided a much-needed answer to help set up a 5-4 victory. Gibson scored four times, including once on a power play, and added an assist during a stretch where the Panthers recorded five consecutive goals.

Zam Plante, Hermantown. The sophomore forward has vaulted to the top the Hawks’ offensive leaderboard, averaging nearly five points per game this season. Plante recorded two goals and two assists in the Hawks’ 8-1 victory at Superior before besting that total with three goals and three assists in a 12-1 win at Eveleth-Gilbert. Then, in the Hawks' 10-0 win at Hibbing/Chisholm, Plante recorded a hat trick and two assists. Through four games, Plante has two shorthanded goals and five points on the power play.

Mitch Reasoner, Becker/Big Lake. The senior goaltender backed the Eagles to an exciting season-opening win, making 53 saves for a .981 save percentage as the Eagles defeated Cambridge-Isanti — a team they lost to in all three matchups last season — by a score of 2-1.

Jacob Snyder, Duluth Denfeld. The senior goaltender posted a .933 save percentage in the Hunters’ 4-4 overtime tie on Jan. 14. Snyder averaged nearly one save per minute of the game, stopping 56 shots — nearly double the amount of his opposing goaltender — including 10 in overtime, in the 59-minute game.
