And the winner is...MN Hockey Hub Top Performer revealed

See who fans voted as the top performer from Feb. 8-13.

Athletes are considered for the weekly top performer poll only if their stats are entered on the MN Hockey Hub by 10 a.m. on Sundays. If coaches or members of their staffs need access to enter stats, please email mnhubs@sportngin.com.


Top performer winner

Connor Smith, Totino-Grace. The Eagles (3-2-1) have come back strong after going winless in their first three games, surging to a three-game winning streak. In the Eagles’ two-win week, multiple players tallied 10 or more points as the Eagles’ wins were by a combined score of 19-4. Smith, a senior forward, led the Eagles’ 13-1 rout of Spring Lake Park on Feb. 11, recording a hat trick and five assists for eight points.

Top performer candidates

Ben Dardis, Mahtomedi. The junior goaltender backed two Zephyrs wins last week, allowing just one goal between the two games. At Orono on Feb. 11, the Zephyrs won 2-1 as Dardis made 33 saves for a .971 save percentage. On Feb. 13, Dardis recorded his second shutout of the season, making 31 saves as the Zephyrs (6-3) defeated Delano 3-0. Dardis has a .943 save percentage on the season.

Drew Fisher, Cretin-Derham Hall. The junior forward recorded a season-high five points as he led the Raiders (9-1) to an 8-3 win at Woodbury. After tallying a power-play assist in the first period of the Feb. 11 victory, Fisher recorded four points in the second period. Fisher notched three goals — one on a power play and one shorthanded — and an assist in the middle period.

Kyle Kukkonen, Maple Grove. The state’s leader in assists (25) and points (40) so far this season, Kukkonen recorded 12 points last week during two Crimson wins. After recording three points during a 10-0 shutout of Osseo on Feb. 9, Kukkonen tallied a season-high nine points as the Crimson (9-0) handily defeated Spring Lake Park 19-2 on Feb. 13. Kukkonen scored four goals and added five assists in the win.

Sawyer Torkelson, Park Rapids. The freshman goaltender played two near-perfect games as the Panthers (4-4) settled for a 1-1 week. On Feb. 9, Torkelson recorded a .977 save percentage, making 42 saves as the Panthers lost 1-0 to Detroit Lakes. Torkelson was perfect for over 49 minutes, allowing the game's lone goal with less than two minutes remaining in the third period. Two nights later, he stopped 32 shots to back the Panthers’ 2-1 overtime win against Prairie Centre.
