And the winner is...MN Boys' Hockey Hub Top Performer revealed

See who fans voted as the top performer from Feb. 15-20.

Athletes are considered for the weekly top performer poll only if their stats are entered on the MN Hockey Hub by 10 a.m. on Sundays. If coaches or members of their staffs need access to enter stats, please email mnhubs@sportngin.com.


Top performer winner

Tyler Hennen, Kittson Central. The sophomore forward, who is averaging 3.78 points per game this season, tallied seven points on the Bearcats' nine goals last week. In a 4-1 victory over Red Lake Falls on Feb. 16, Hennen scored twice and added one assist. Three nights later, against Park Rapids, Hennen scored twice one minute apart early in the first period before adding an assist and a power-play goal later in the game. The Bearcats (6-2-1) defeated Park Rapids 5-4 behind Hennen's four points.

Top performer candidates

Otto Altman, Woodbury. Woodbury's (3-7-2) junior goaltender recorded his first shutout of the season on Feb. 19, making a season-high 40 saves to back the Royals’ 2-0 defeat of Stillwater.

Samuel Janski, Park of Cottage Grove. After allowing Woodbury to score the game’s first goal early in the second period on Feb. 16, the Wolfpack (4-7) recorded four consecutive goals in less than nine minutes to build a lead that Woodbury couldn’t overcome. The junior defenseman tallied a power-play assist to tie the game at one goal apiece before scoring back-to-back goals and adding a second assist later in the period. The Wolfpack defeated the Royals 4-3. 

Zak Kennett, Red Lake Falls. The senior forward recorded back-to-back six-point games last week, leading the Eagles to a 7-1 triumph over Crookston on Feb. 18 and an 8-1 win against Breckenridge/Wahpeton on Feb. 20. Against Crookston, Kennett scored twice and added four assists for Red Lake Falls (9-3). The next game, Kennett tallied a goal and five assists. Three of Kennett's nine assists were on power plays and one goal was scored shorthanded.

Aksel Reid, Blake. The Bears battled St. Thomas Academy to a 1-1 overtime tie on Feb. 16 as the senior goaltender faced nearly double the amount of shots on goal the Bears (4-5-1) produced. Reid recorded a .976 save percentage and made 40 saves.
