Top games: St. Thomas Academy, Eden Prairie double down on what should be ultra-competitive matchup

We task our reporters with identifying several intriguing games throughout the state to assemble our Top Games of the Week. The matchups are presented in no particular order, and when there are additional games we want to highlight, we’ll include them with brief notes.




Other games to keep an eye on

Cretin-Derham Hall vs. White Bear Lake, 7 p.m., Saturday, March 6. Lleyton Roed-led White Bear Lake (11-2-1) has established itself as the No. 1 challenger to Suburban East Conference frontrunner No. 6-2A Cretin-Derham Hall (12-1-0) and top scorers Drew and Jake Fisher (combined 22 goals and 52 points). 

Hermantown vs. Grand Rapids, 7 p.m., Thursday, March 4. No. 1-1A Hermantown (13-0-0) won the first round of this series in a 5-3 triumph on Feb. 11, handing No. 5-2A Grand Rapids (9-1-0) — fueled by standout defenseman Jack Peart (4 goals, 13 assists) — its lone loss this winter.
